2019 NLLA Conference Bursary: Time is running out, get your applications in soon!

NLLA’s 50th Anniversary Conference will take place over two days, on Monday, April 29th and Tuesday, April 30th, 2019. This year, our theme is 50 years of Celebrating Libraries.

The NLLA is pleased to announce the 3rd year for the Conference Bursary. The bursary will be open to all members of the NLLA currently residing in Newfoundland and Labrador. The bursary can be used for travel expenses and/or accommodation. Funds will be awarded on an as needed basis.

Bursary Guidelines:

Deadline for Application will be Friday April 12, 2019.

Funds can be collected at the 2019 NLLA Conference. If you are unable to attend the conference, the bursary will be forfeited. Please note, due to limited funds, if the number of applicants exceeds the funds available for bursaries, bursaries will be awarded to as many applicants as possible. Not all costs may be covered and will be reviewed on a case-by-case situation.

  1. Who can apply
    • You must be a member by the time you apply
  2. What the funding will cover
    • The cost of two-way travel from hometown to St. John’s
    • Accommodation associated with conference attendance in St. John’s
  3. What do I need to provide
    • Application form
    • Accommodation invoice/receipt
    • Receipt(s) can be submitted after the conference. In some cases, it may not be possible for recipients to get accommodation receipts until they checkout. Additionally, travel receipts may not be issued until a return trip is completed. Bursary funds will not be issued until receipts are received.
  4. How to estimate travel expenses
    • Driving – Gas is charged at $0.35/km
    • Bus – DRL Price Calculator
    • Air – Air Canada, WestJet or Pal
  5. To qualify, members must be:
    • Employed in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador in a library/archive/museum related field and have worked in that field for at least one year
    • Must have prior authorization to attend or take part in the conference from your supervisor/employer
    • You can become a member when submitting the application by also submitting the membership application and fees.
  6. The reviewing of applications and awarding of the bursary will be made by the Bursary Planning Committee, comprised of members of the conference planning committee and chaired by the Vice President of NLLA.

 

Apply for Our Spring Conference Bursary

The NLLA is pleased to announce the second year for the Conference Bursary for our 2018 Annual Conference: Smooth Sailing through Rough Waters.  This bursary will be open to all members of the NLLA currently residing in Newfoundland and Labrador. The bursary can be used for travel expenses, accommodation and conference registration. Funds will be awarded on an as-needed basis. Please read our bursary guidelines for more information.

To apply, please complete our application form and submit it to Bursary Committee Chair, Melissa Feaver (melissa_feaver@hotmail.com). The deadline for applications is April 16, 2018.

Bursary Available to Attend Fall LTAIG Conference

NLLA is pleased to offer library technicians, assistants, and other library staff in the province the opportunity to apply for funding to attend a conference or take advantage of other professional development opportunities. Funds will be awarded on an as needed basis of up to $500 per year.

The deadline for applications for the bursary to attend the upcoming Library Assistants and Technicians Interest Group (LTAIG) conference is November 10. Please complete our application form and email it to Jennifer Budden at jbudden@nlpl.ca for review.

Applications are now invited for the Margaret Williams Trust Fund Award which has been established to promote the development of librarianship in Newfoundland and Labrador. Funds are awarded on a competitive basis to applicants seeking funding for library-related projects or assistance in pursuing full-time graduate studies in librarianship, archival studies, or teacher librarianship.

Amount of 2017 award: up to $1,500.00
Deadline for applications: Friday, May 5, 2017

Bursary Available for Spring 2017 NLLA Annual Conference

NLLA is pleased to announce a bursary for our 2017 annual conference, Survive and Thrive, May 8, in St. John’s. This bursary will be open to all members of the NLLA currently residing in Newfoundland and Labrador.   The bursary can be used for travel expenses, accommodation and/or conference registration. Funds are limited, and will be awarded on an as-needed basis.

To apply, please complete the application form. Applications will be accepted until April 10, 2017.

Shows the area from the Bay of Exploits to Red Indian Lake where Gov. Palliser sent Cartwright to bring about friendly relations with the Beothuk. Size: approx. 30”X26”
